Schedule: Fulltime – Evening and night shift with rotating weekends
Unit works 4-8 hour shifts for 32 hours.
Salary: Starting at $56.50 – $71.63 per hour based on years of experience.
Night Shift & Evening differentials. Sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.
Regional Medical Center of San Jose is an acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center. The hospital provides a host of technologically-advanced services including Cardiovascular, Neuro, Orthopedic, Bariatric and General Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology and services for Women. Regional holds Joint Commission advanced certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Get with the Guidelines- Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. It is a certified Chest Pain Center, county-designated STEMI (heart attack) Receiving Center, designated Lung Cancer Screening Center, a member of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ECMO) and is certified by The Joint Commission in Sepsis care.
Requirements
Position Summary:
Coordinates total nursing care for critically ill patients, averaging in age from 57-70 years. Primary patient population served include those admitted for acute/unstable trauma, acute neurological incidents, acute respiratory failure, MI, acute GI bleed, electrolyte imbalance, and patients post drug overdose. Participates in patient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Participates in organizational and unit based quality improvement activities. Is able to provide mentorship and guidance to new employees.
Licensure/ Certification/Registration:
Minimum: CA RN, BCLS, ACLS
Preferred: CCRN, TNCC. NIH Stroke
Education:
Minimum: High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Experience:
Minimum: 3 years of acute care nursing in cardiovascular, trauma, or neurosurgical ICU.
Preferred: 5 years ICU nursing with emphasis on trauma, neurosurgical, or cardiovascular care.
Experience Requirements:
This is a very high acuity ICU with a mixture of patients with multiple comorbidities (very sick patient population) -you may be required to provide care for patients with any of the below listed clinical specialty needs. Typically at least 3 years of ICU experience is required at a minimum.
1. Trauma unit-Trauma experience needed-No burn unit or experience needed.
2. Comprehensive stroke Center-EVD ICP experience and knowledge of taking care of stroke patients with post stroke intervention experience.
3. Open heart experience helpful.
4 .CRRT, Balloon pumps, Impella experience beneficial as we frequently manage patients with these medical devises.
5. This is a very fast paced ICU .
Qualifications/Skills:
Minimum: Ability to use critical thinking skills and prioritize aspects of patient care; possesses good interpersonal communication skills. Is able to calculate medication dosages and safely administer medications within the critical care setting.
